Air Force Ball

This evening is the Air Force Ball, celebrating the AF's 61st anniversary. It is being held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu. Gail and Aaron are going with me, and I will be giving the invocaton and the blessing of the food. Over 1000 tickets have been sold, so it will be quite a crowd of military and civilians. I will post some pictures and my invocation later.

Hawaiian Sunset

Sunset from the pier at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. We were fishing one afternoon and couldn't resist snapping this beautiful scene

Byodo Temple Hawaii

We visited this beautiful and peaceful place on Oahu. I attended a Buddist funeral here months ago, and we went one Sunday after attending church on the Winward side of the island. It is a quiet place to go and reflect, no matter what your faith. If you go, look for the Christian cross inside.

Sabbath Prayer

Days pass and the years vanish, and we walk sightless among miracles.
Lord, fill our eyes with seeing and our minds with knowing; let there be moments when your Presence, like lightning, illumines the darkness in which we walk.
Help us to see, wherever we gaze, that the bush burns unconsumed.
And we, clay touched by God, will reach out for holiness, and exclaim with wonder:
How filled with awe is this place, and we did not know it! Blessed is the Eternal One, the holy God!

Another Week In Paradise

I am now sitting in the hot seat as the boss is deployed for six months. My first day as the PACAF Command Chaplain went well. The staff completed a couple of projects and I went to meetings all day. Got my PT in and had a nice early morning walk with Gail. Life is very good because God is good. Pray for Richard during his deployment and for wife Judy. The scripture I read this morning says: "They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfulls of broken pieces that were left over. " Luke 9:17. God blesses us each and every day with abundant provision. Trust that our Lord will care for us and be open to see the needs of the world through the eyes of faith.
